Production of strong current ion beams in non-uniform magnetic field

  • 1. Nagoya Univ. (Japan). Inst. of Plasma Physics

Description

The possibility is discussed of producing strong current ion beams in a magnetic field without neglecting the diamagnetic effect of the drifting electrons across the magnetic field. In certain cases the diamagnetic effect can improve the ion current density. A design of a possible ion beam source is also presented. (auth.)
