Pion annihilation into two photons

  • 1. Institute of Nuclear Physics, Uzbek Academy of Sciences, pos. Ulughbek, Tashkent, 702132 Uzbekistan (Uzbekistan)

Description

Neutral-pion annihilation into two photons is studied in the bilocal relativistic potential model. The relevant matrix element is derived, and the decay width is calculated. It is shown that, for the transition π0→γγ, the model employing a modified Schwinger-Dyson equation with a potential represented as the sum of the oscillator and Coulomb terms yields a decay width that is close to the experimental value
