Technique for charged particle track detection

Description

Technique for charged particle track detection is described. This technique lies in the fact, that the high voltage pulse is applied to the electrode of the chamber, filled with neon after the particle transit and the steamer tracks, are photographed. To increase the particle track coordinate measurement accuracy the working chamber volume is illuminated by the pulse radiation beam with the wave length, corresponding to neon atom resonance transfer from the metastable level 3sub(b)[1.5]sub(2) to the 3sub(p)[2.5]sub(3) excited one after the high voltage pulse ceasing perpendicular to the electric field direction and the photographing is carried out perpendicular to the radiation direction. The chamber volume is illuminated by the laser pulse beam with the retunable wave legth. The envention allows to achieve the particle track coordinate measurement accuracy of about 0.04 mm. On the other hand, in the experiments, where such a high accuracy is not required, the proposed invention allows to refuse the complex and expensive image brightness amplifier application and to carry out the direct track photographing at the expence of the streamer brigthness increase
