Triphase solidification of Fe-Cr-Ni alloys

Description

The process of solidification of Fe-Cr-Ni alloys containing 17-18% Cr and 6.7-12.6% Ni was studied. Multiphase crystallization of the alloys is realized by peritectic reaction δ-F+L → A under conditions of growing austenite contact with liquid phase. Change in nickel concentration in the alloys considered affects mainly the ratio of peritectic reaction stages. No increase in the amount of δ-ferrite with cooling, characteristic of L → δ-F+A eutectic transformation was detected in all the cases. At high enough content of nickel peritectic reaction is realized completely. On the moment of solidification completion δ-ferrite is absent in the alloys
