Verification of H*(10) dose on environmental dose evaluation by using OSL dosimeter

Description

A verification of H*(10) dose has been performed using OSL dosimeter type EX in environmental dose evaluation. Firstly, it was prepared 16 dosimeters which were divided into 4 groups namely Group Control, Group 1, Group 2 and Group 3, on each group consisted 4 pieces of dosimeter. Then, OSL dosimeters in Group 1, Group 2, and Group 3 were irradiated by of a Cs-137 source with a dose of H*(10) at 1 mSv, 2.5 mSv, and 5 mSv respectively. The results of the analysis showed that the ratio of measured dose to true dose value were 0.87 - 0.95 (the deviation o f measured dose to true dose ranged from 7 - 13 %) on irradiation of 1 mSv, 1.03 - 1.07 (deviation ranged from 3 - 7 %) on irradiation of 2.5 mSv, and 1.07 - 1.13 (deviation of 7 - 13 %) at 5 mSv irradiation. Thus, it can be concluded that the deviation of the measured dose to true dose is ≤ 13 %, so that the radiation dose measurement of the environment/occupational area using OSL dosimeter type EX conducted in the KKPR Subdivision of PTKMR BATAN can be trusted. Nevertheless, further study of the confidence level for the H*(10) dose with less than 1 mSv is necessary conducted. (author)
