Antiferromagnetism and paramagnetism of some rare earth intermetallic compounds with silver

Description
The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility of Gd, Tb, Dy and Ho intermetallic compounds with Ag with the CsCl structure, is investigated. It is established that an antiferromagnetic ordering with THETAsub(N)=135K in GdAg and with THETAsub(N)=105K in TbAg exists, in these compounds THETAsub(N) - the Reel point. The paramagnetic Curie temperature THETAsub(p) in all compounds is negative. In the SmAg compound the susceptibility depending on temperature changes according to a complex law. The explanation of the results obtained is given in the framework of the Van Vleck paramagnetism theory
