Model of oxygen vacancy ordering in YBa2Cu3O7-δ based on electron diffraction data

  • 1. Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain). Dept. de Fisica del Estado Solido

Description

It is well known that perovskite-like solid bodies are characterized by tendency to nonstoichiometry; its mechanism of realization is determined by geometrical conditions of coordination cation surrounding and by possibilities of change of oxidation degrees. Copper-containing high-temperature superconductors are also noted for their tendency to oxygen deficiency. It was established that YBa2Cu3O7-δ excited in wide range of compositions: from RO7.2 to RO6 (where R=YBa2Cu3). One-, two-, and three-dimensional ordering of oxygen vacancies was revealed in high-temperature superconductors with composition, lying in this range. The results mean, that intermediate ordered phases, which can be nonstoichiometric ones, exist in homogeneity region of YBaCuO
