Modification of gammatron S technique of irradiation of breast cancer

The method of irradiation of breast cancer proposed by Fletcher has been modified. Patients receive irradiation from Gammatron S. Modification consists in application of isocentric technique for tangential irradiation of the chest wall, adaptation of the collimator inclination angle to the convexity of the chest and in the neutralization of the ''build up'' phenomenon in the tissues by covering the skin of the chest with flattened bolus. At the same time less significant changes in the situation of irradiated fields have been introduced. The position of the patient in the course of irradiation is not changed. Introduced modifications simplify and increase the precision of irradiation of patients. 9 figs., 4 refs. (author)
