Astrophysics of the diffuse background of x-rays and gamma rays

Creators

  • 1. Univ. of California, Berkeley

Description

The origin of the diffuse x-ray and gamma ray background and some of the astrophysical implications of such a radiation background are discussed. The range of interest extends from 102 eV to 108 eV, over 6 decades, and into a variety of processes which contribute to the generation of a diffuse background. Angular distribution measurements are used in determining the distribution of the sources of the radiation background. (U.S.)
