Description

A study has been carried out for estimation of the prevailing levels of uranium, fluoride and nitrate in ground water of twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad along with suburbs. More than 60 ground water samples were collected and analysed for uranium, fluoride and nitrate following standard procedures, the concentration of uranium, fluoride and nitrate were observed in the range of 0.6-440.0μgl-1, 0.3-4.1mgl1-1 and 1-442 mgl-1 with corresponding geometric mean of 15.8, 1.30 and 37 respectively. The observations are also reported in terms of percentage of total samples in different ranges of respective concentrations. No specific pattern was observed for variation of uranium, fluoride and nitrate levels in wells with their geographical location within twin cities. (author)
