Study of Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O films on (Ca,Sr)CuOy substrates

  • 1. Dept. of Physics, Sogang Univ., C.P.O. Box 1142, Seoul (Korea, Republic of)

Description

This paper reports on superconducting Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O films of 1 μm in thickness that were prepared on a (Ca, Sr)CuOy substrates by the thermal evaporation of a metallic Bi layer and heat-treatment at 830 degrees C for a few minutes in air. From EXR on DTA of the films, the Bi2Sr2Ca1Cu2OY phase was found to be formed by sequential reactions between Bi, Sr-Cu-O and Ca-Cu-O phases. The electronic structure and surface inter-reactions of metallic Bi on (Ca, Sr)CuOy were studied using x-ray photoemission spectroscopy. The Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O formation process at the Bi/(Sr,Ca)CuOy interface was confirmed by the temperature dependence of the Bi(4f), Sr(3d), Ca(2p) and Cu(2p) emissions
