Measurement of the rate constants for the reactions of the IO. radical with sulfur-containing compounds H2S, (CH3)2S, and SO2

Description
Reactions of iodine monooxide (IO.) with sulfur-containing compounds playing an important role in atmosphere chemistry were investigated. Effort was made to discriminate heterogeneous and homogeneous ways of the reactions based on obtained data. Constants of rates of the iodine monooxide (IO.) reaction with H2S, (CH3)2S and SO2 leading to formation of atomic iodine, which concentration was determined by atom resonance fluorescence, were taken to be measured. It is established that constants of gaseous reaction rates of (IO.) with (CH3)2S and H2S is less, than 2.5 x 10 -14 and 8.0 x 10-14 cm3 molecule-1c-1, accordingly, and constants of gaseous reaction rate of iodine monooxide with SO2 is ≤ 5.6 x 10-15 cm3 molecule-1c-1
Abstract (Russian)
Исследованы реакции монооксида йода (IO.) с серосодержащими соединениями, играющими важную роль в химии атмосферы. Предпринята попытка на основе полученных данных различить гетерогенный и гомогенный пути реакций. Предполагалось измерить констаны скорости реакций взаимодействия монооксида йода (IO.) с H2S, (CH3)2S и SO2, приводящих к образованию атомарного йода, концентрация которого определялась методом атомной резонансной флуоресценции. Установлено, что при комнатной температуре константы скорости газовых реакций IO. с (CH3)2S и H2S меньше, чем 2.5 х 10 -14 и 8.0 х 10-14 см3 молекула -1 с-1, соответственно, а константа скорости газофазной реакции монооксида йода с SO2 ≤ 5.6 x 10-15 см3 молекула -1 с-1Additional details
