Determination of low specific radionuclide contaminations by beta and gamma-radiation

Description

The capabilities of measurement of small specific activities of steel scrap by beta- and gamma-radiations of contamination radionuclides are compared taking into account criteria for unrestricted release. It is pointed out that measurements of levels of surface contaminations should be carried out by means of gas glow discharge beta-counters. Measurements of specific mass contamination levels of remelted scrap should be carried out by means of scintillation detector using the peak of total absorption of unscattered gamma-quantum energy
