Plutonium dioxide is treated with an aqueous acid solution, without hydrazine, containing a reducing agent with an oxydoreduction potential < +0.5V for plutonium reduction and dissolution. Cr2+ or U4+ can be used as reducing agents

On met en contact le bioxyde de plutonium avec une solution aqueuse acide, depourvue d'hydrazine, contenant un agent reducteur dont le potentiel d'oxydoreduction est inferieur a + 0,5 V/ENH pour reduire le plutonium et le faire passer en solution. L'agent reducteur peut etre Cr2+ ou U4+
