Polarization effects in elastic scattering of neutrinos on nucleons
Creators
Description
A detailed phenomenological analysis is carried out and numerical estimates are given of polarization effects in the elastic scattering processes ν(ν) + p → ν(ν) + p, assuming the possibility of using a polarized proton target for the study of such reactions. Expressions are obtained for the cross sections for these processes, taking account of the polarization of the protons. Relations among the experimentally measured polarization coefficients are discussed. These relations could be violated because of the presence, in the Lagrangian describing such processes, of second-class currents or versions of the interaction different from V and A
