Description
A brief article reports on the seven major oil companies' financial positions in 1993. In general, the decline in oil prices was offset for higher prices for natural gas and similarly downstream profitability more than offset the difficulties in petrochemicals. Topics covered include cost cutting, upstream focus, environmental provision, chemical sector and capital expenditure. (UK)
