The solar flux influence on quiet time conductances in the auroral ionosphere

Description

The authors report on measurements of the Hall and Pedersen conductances of the quiet time auroral ionosphere made using the EISCAT radar. They derive expressions for the conductances as a function of the 10.7cm solar flux (Sa) between 70 and 250 (x10-22Wm-2Hz-1), and the solar zenith angle χ. The results are consistent with the recent model results of Rasmussen et al, but at higher levels of solar activity give results higher than previous models
