No defects in Forgemasters production of nuclear flasks
Creators
Description
Forgemasters Engineering is just in the process of completing its contract for 27 spent nuclear fuel transportation flasks for the UK's Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB). The last ingot has been cast, and the flask will be completed in the autumn of 1987 over two months early. This article shows how Forgemasters has met the strict quality standards demanded and beaten tight delivery deadlines too. The chemical composition and mechanical properties of the flask material are given. The stages in the production of the flasks are described briefly. (author)
