HTGR core model response to simultaneous horizontal and vertical excitations

  • 1. Brookhaven National Lab., Upton, NY (USA)

Description

An experimental program was undertaken to investigate the effects of simultaneous horizontal and vertical excitation on the response of the HTGR core. The tests were conducted with block array models of the core excited with both fixed frequency and sweeping frequency harmonic forcing functions. The effects on both free standing block arrays and on block arrays preloaded in the vertical direction were investigated. The results of the tests as well as their importance as regards to the full core response, are presented. (author)
