Dose assessment of natural radionuclides

  • 1. KINS, Taejon (Korea, Republic of)

Description

The concentration of natural radionuclides of 232Th, 236Ra and 40K in soil samples at 229 locations in Korea has been determined by gamma spectrometry. The contribution to the terrestrial dose rate in air from soil was due to the presence of 232Th (45>6%), 40K (36.5%) and 236Ra (13.8%). The mean terrestrial dose rate in air at 1 m above ground was 79±24 nGy h1. The corresponding an annual effective dose equivalent and an annual collective dose equivalent for all of province under study were 742.2 Sv and 22,401 person Sv, respectively
