Experimental and theoretical investigations of the feasibility of electron beam heating for fusion are reviewed. Progress at four U.S. laboratories on understanding the beam-plasma interaction and developing reactor schemes employing it are summarized. (orig.)

Es wird ueber experimentelle und theoretische Untersuchungen ueber die Anwendbarkeit der Elektronenheizung zur Kernfusion berichtet. Die Fortschritte von vier US-Laboratoren hinsichtlich des Verstaendnisses der Strahl-Plasma-Wechselwirkung und hinsichtlich der Entwicklung von Reaktorentwuerfen auf dieser Basis werden zusammengefasst.
