Es wird ueber experimentelle und theoretische Untersuchungen ueber die Anwendbarkeit der Elektronenheizung zur Kernfusion berichtet. Die Fortschritte von vier US-Laboratoren hinsichtlich des Verstaendnisses der Strahl-Plasma-Wechselwirkung und hinsichtlich der Entwicklung von Reaktorentwuerfen auf dieser Basis werden zusammengefasst.
