Coupled-channel calculations using continuum distorted-waves: capture to n=3 in proton-hydrogen collisions

Description

A 20-state coupled-channel symmetrized variational continuum distorted-wave (SVCDW) calculation for electron capture in proton-hydrogen collisions is presented. States with a principal quantum number n≤3, centred on both the target and the projectile, have been included in the calculation. Total cross sections for electron capture to the 3s, 3p and 3d levels are shown for the energy range 15-150 keV. The SVCDW results are compared with other large-scale coupled-channel calculations and with experiment. (author)
