Description

Certainly one of the most exciting ideas to have emerged from the interaction between particle physics and cosmology is that the inflationary universe scenario as a solution to a number of long-standing problems. In this talk the author reviews inflation: the problems it solves, the means by which it might be implemented, and some difficulties which have arisen. Finally, he discusses the extent to which one might test inflation experimentally. (Auth.)
