Effect of PbO and TiO2 additions on the structure and morphology of YBa2Cu3Ox ceramic superconductors
- 1. David Taylor Research Center, Annapolis, MD (United States)
Description
This paper reports on the mechanism of the effect of PbO and TiO2 addition on the superconducting YBa2Cu3Ox morphology and superconducting that was investigated. The results suggest that while TiO2 is very effective in reducing the particle size, PbO did not show any effect. Both TiO2 and PbO have lowered the Tc of the superconductor. From structural composition studies, it was found that the additives tend to deplete the oxygen from YBa2Cu3Ox, and stabilize the non superconducting Y2BaCuOx phase of the superconductor
