Description
Several theories of multiple ion-pair kinetics and free-ion yields in hydrocarbons require the distribution function of the longest cation-electron distance in the cluster. In this paper we show that the truncated distribution generally employed is not consistent with the usual statistical interpretation of the electron concentration profile and we derive the marginal distribution function for all the ordered distances. We also show how the theories may be modified to incorporate this distribution. (author)
