Big bang nucleosynthesis: fateway to the very early universe
Description
The status of the concordance of the standard model of primordial nucleosynthesis with current observational data is reviewed. It is concluded that at present the standard model is consistent with all the observational data provided that the baryon-to-photon ratio is (3-7) x 10 to the 10th and the number of light neutrino species is four or less. Should the primordial mass fraction of He-4 be found to be 0.22 or less, the standard model is in serious difficulty. 60 references
