Full text: Fire safety is an important aspect of the overall plant safety and public safety of a nuclear power plant. Subsequent to the fire incident at Narora atomic power station, the fire safety of all the existing nuclear power plants were reviewed by Department of Atomic Energy. Thereafter, up gradation were carried out in the existing plants and fire protection measures were strengthened in the design of new plants. In this paper, the major upgradations that have been undertaken in the existing plants and also the improvements in the design as a result of fire safety analysis are discussed
