Kinetic and Dosimetric Characterization of Mg2SiO4: Tb Dosimeters

Description

Thermoluminescence dosimetric characteristics of Mg2SiO4:Tb in the form of sintered pellets were investigated. Mg2SiO4:Tb is a recently developed dosimetric material which offers attractive features such as ultra high TL and OSL sensitivity in dosimetric applications. Thermoluminescence studies of Tb doped Mg2SiO4:Tb samples show a glow emission peaked at about 200 degree with a small peak at about 350 degree. The aim of this study was to determine the TL kinetic characteristics of Mg2SiO4:Tb using different methods, namely isothermal luminescence decay (ILD) and Tm -Tstop methods. In addition, dose response, sensitivity and fading of Mg2SiO4:Tb were investigated in order to find out the dosimetric characteristics of this phospor. The activation energy and frequency factor were calculated by isothermal luminescence decay curve was found to be 1eV and 3.5x1010 s-1, respectively. Five plateaus were found in the main TL peak of Mg2SiO4:Tb for Tmax-Tstop experiment. The Mg2SiO4:Tb fading rate was found to be 25% during the first three months
