Evaluation of induced activity, decay heat and dose rate distribution after shutdown in ITER

Description
Induced activity, decay heat and dose rate distributions after shutdown were estimated for 1MWa/m2 operation in ITER. The activity in the inboard blanket one day after shutdown is 1.5x1011Bq/cm3, and the average decay heating rate 0.01w/cm3. The dose rate outside the 120cm thick concrete biological shield is two order higher than the design criterion of 5μSv/h. This indicates that the biological shield thickness should be enhanced by 50cm in concrete, that is, total thickness 170cm for workers to enter the reactor room and to perform maintenance. (author)
