Description

Adsorption properties of a number of inorganic oxides (SiO2, TiO2, ZnO, MgO, talc, Kaolin) irradiated in the 0-1 kGy dose range, by γ-radiation in the air atmosphere without preliminary thermal vacuum processing are investigated for the first time. It has been found that irradiation leads to formation on the oxide surface of active centres of acid character. The dose dependence is of extreme character. The possibility of effective surface modification is shown. The preliminary sorbent irradiation contributes to manifestation of formed under irradiation adsorption centres. At room temperature their radiation chemical yield constitutes approximately 2.7x104 for 100 eV of silica gel absorbed energy
