A transient method for measuring thermophysical properties of solids at low temperatures

  • 1. Shanghai Jiao Tong Univ. (China)

Description

A transient method with rectangular pulse heating has been developed to measure the specific heat and thermal conductivity of solid structural materials at low temperatures. Computer automatic control is used in the measuring equipment. By this method, the specific heat can be measured directly, meanwhile the thermal conductivity can be calculated from the time dependent temperature rise process. The specific heat and the thermal conductivity (axial and radial) of some samples, such as nylon, glass fibre reinforced plastics, and so on, are measured by the equipment. These data have been compared with the experimental data of others, which show good agreement
