Fabrication of the main wheel for driving support in the ''Roblyng'' precision lathe

A fabrication of the main wheel for driving support in precision lathe Roblyng has been conducted. This was to replace the main gear drive support that could not function due to being worn out. The main gear function as the driver of support transmission gear. The material used was ST 60 diameter of 37,5 mm. The tooth number to be made was 23 with 9 mm thick, and module 1,5. The fabrication involved precision lathe, milling machine, and nitriding machine. In order to improve the quality of the main gear, a hardening duration was 5 hours in the nitrogen gas pressure of 1,4 mbar nad temperature 450 °C. After hardening treatment hardness test was done, and the result was 15,60 Vickers. Before it was treated, the hardness value was only 11,63 Vickers, It means that an increase of 25,12 % was obtained. The gear being fabricated has been installed in the support and can function property. (author)
