Reversed phase extraction chromatographic separation of zirconium, niobium and hafnium using Aliquat 336 as an exchanger (Preprint No. CT-47)

  • 1. Saha Inst. of Nuclear Physics, Calcutta (India). Nuclear Chemistry Div.

Description

A reversed phase extraction chromatographic technique for radiochemical separation of zirconium, niobium and hafnium has been developed using Aliquat 336 as an anionic exchanger. 95Zr and 95Nb were found to be extracted by a reagent impregnated column for kieselguhr unlike 181Hf which comes out unabsorbed. Extracted 95Zr and 95Nb were eluted respectively with 0.5N HNO3 and 1N HF solutions. Purity of the separated tracers were verified through γ-ray spectrometry. (author)
