Description
A magnetic and crystallographic study has been carried out on the tetragonal interstitial ferromagnetic compounds RCo9Si2Cx (R=Y, Nd, Sm, x=0-2.5). C insertion produces an increase in the magnetocrystalline anisotropy and decreases in the Curie temperature and spontaneous magnetization. These latter effects may be associated with a decrease in the cobalt moment as the carbon content increases. (orig.)
