Strucural and spectral study of potassium dimolybdatouranylate

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Obshchej i Neorganicheskoj Khimii

Description

The structure of anhydrous molybdatouranylates excluding the competing effect of water molecules on properties and structure of compounds is studied. X-ray study of potassium dimolybdatouranylate K2(UO2(MoO4)2) has shown that the compound crystallizes in monoclinic syngony (sp. gr. P21/c, elementary cell parameters are a=12.269(5), b=13.468(5), c=12.857(6)A, β=95.08(3) deg., Z=8, ρ roent=4.19 g/cm3. The structure includes two crystallographically nonequivalent uranyl ions each of them coordinated five MoO4-groups monodentately. Uranyl ion has a linear and angular distortion. Of four independent molybdate groups, two are bidentate - bridge as regards uranyl and two are tridentate - bridge with local C2V amd C3V symmetry, respectively. A satisfactory agreement between structural and spectral luminescent characteristics of the compound is noted
