ZIF-8 based quasi-solid-state electrolyte for Li-ion battery investigated using positron annihilation and broadband dielectric spectroscopy

  • 1. Radiochemistry Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

State-of-the-art Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) suffers from major issues such as leakage, high flammability and fire safety hazards etc. due to the use of carbonate based liquid electrolytes... In this regard, solid-state electrolytes and/or quasi-solid-state electrolytes (QSSEs) can serve as a promising substitute to improve the safety of the LIBs systems. However, limited ionic conductivity of these electrolytes has impeded its use in commercial batteries. Researchers have tried to address various factors responsible for increasing ionic conductivity and thermo-mechanical integrity of these electrolytes but the goal is far from being achieved. Poly (ethylene oxide), PEO, filled with active or passive fillers along with suitable Li salt is the most felicitous matrix used for solid electrolyte and/or QSSEs
