Choice of main dimensions of an inertial-inductive unipolar energy storage

Problem of efficiency of a shock homopolar generator (SUG) has been solved on the basis of an inert+al-inductive homopolar energy storage of a cylinder type without ferromagnetic line with a drum armature. The optimum geometry of SUG has been determined. Problems of the generator self-excitation and decrease of energy losses during its output onto the load have been considered. The optimization of the SUG geometry consisted in the choice of dimensions of an excitation winding coil and a distance between the coil and armature. The technique suggested for the choice of the main dimensions of inertial-inductive homopolar energy storage simplifies significantly the calculations: in practice the number of approximations on the basic parameters reduces to 1-2; calculations reduces to a minimum owing to the given universal diagrams: the chosen main dimensions are retained also after the refinement of calculations
