Application for nuclear field of microcomputer

  • 1. Fuji Electric Co. Ltd., Kawasaki, Kanagawa (Japan)

Description

In nuclear power stations, more strict radiation exposure control has been required lately, and more efficient processing of works has been required for the reason of increasing data to be processed. In order to solve these problems, a microcomputer-assisted auto-reader gate equipment has been developed. This gate control system for radiation control areas is composed of digital dosimeters with alarm, magnetic ID (identification) cards, auto-reader gate equipments, a computer system and a magnetic ID card-issuing equipment. The auto-reader gate equipments installed at the entrance of radiation control areas enable to collect exposed dose reading and data automatically for every person, and the limitations to the entrance of disqualified persons and the outgoing of personnel whose exposure has exceeded the pre-determined dose are performed at the same time. The report describes on the configuration and the features of this system, and explains the advantages, structure and functions of the auto-reader gate equipment. The functions include the man-machine interfacing, gate controlling, dosimeter reading, etc. The sequence of communication is also indicated. Three systems or seventeen sets of the equipment have been installed so far, and are working well. (Wakatsuki, Y.)
