Floating wind turbines of Groix and Belle-Ile - Non-technical summary of the impact study (Article R122-5 II-1 of the Environment Code). July 2018
Description
The project involves the construction of a 24 MW floating wind farm off the coast of Morbihan, between the islands of Groix and Belle-Ile-en-Mer, and its connection to the transmission grid. The pilot farm will be operated for 20 years by the company 'Ferme Eolienne Flottante de Groix et Belle-Ile'. Estimated electricity production is 90 GW/h per year, equivalent to the electricity consumption of around 20,000 households (46,000 inhabitants), or two-thirds of the domestic consumption of the city of Lorient. The electrical connection of the pilot farm to the public transmission grid consists of a subsea link between the pilot farm and the landing zone, and an underground link from the landing zone to the onshore substation. It is under the control of the public transmission system operator RTE, which is applying for its own authorizations to install and operate the connection link. This document constitutes the non-technical summary (NTS) of the impact study for the Groix and Belle-Ile floating wind farm pilot project and its connection to the Public Power Transmission Network
