Value of Cys-C in the diagnosis of diabetes incorporate renal damage

Description
Objective: To investigate the value of serum cystatin C (Cys-C) in the diagnosis of diabetes incorporate renal damage. Methods: 98 patients with diabetes were divided into serum cystatin C/creatinine (Cys-C/Cr) normal group 87 patients) and abnormal groups (11 patients). The levels of Cys-C, serum creatinine (Cr), urea nitrogen (BUN), albumin (AlB) and uric acid (UA) in 98 diabetes patients and 32 health controls were determined. Results: The detection percentage of biochemical indexes for diabetes incorporate renal damage in Cys-C/Cr normal patients group were in the order of Cys-C > Cr > BuN > AlB/UA; and in Cys-C/Cr abnormal patients group were in the order of Cys-C > AlB > Cr > BuN > UA. Conclusion: The detection of Cys-C could improve the detection rate of diabetes incorporate renal damage. (authors)
