Ruptured mycotic aneurysm of the subclavian artery after irradiation

Description
The late effects of radiation injury to large arteries have been well described, and include mainly atherosclerotic changes which present clinically as occlusive disease. Formation of an aneurysm after irradiation is rare to our knowledge. The management of arterial injury after irradiation is made more difficult by associated injuries to the adjacent skin and surrounding tissues. We know of no previous work of an irradiation-induced, ruptured and infected aneurysm and we report this case to emphasis the complexities of its management
