Creep-fatigue strength and evaluation on welded joints of Hastelloy XR
- 1. Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd., Kobe (Japan)
Description
Low-cycle fatigue and creep-fatigue experiments in Helium temperature range of 700 through 1,000degC are conducted on the Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) and Electron Beam (EB) welded joints as well as the base metal of Hastelloy XR. The fatigue life of EB welded joint is almost same as the fatigue life of base metal, but the fatigue life of TIG welded joint is 0.1 through 0.2 of the fatigue life of base metal. These factors are valid for the creep-fatigue experimental results. The linear damage rule recommended by ASME Code Case N-47 are applied for the experimental results to check the validity of the rule at the higher temperature. It is found that the total creep-fatigue damage D are 0.3 and 0.1 for the base metal and the welded joints respectively. (author)
