Absolute efficiency calibration of HPGe detector by simulation method

  • 1. Radiation Safety Systems Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

High resolution gamma ray spectrometry by HPGe detectors is a powerful radio analytical technique for estimation of activity of various radionuclides. In the present work absolute efficiency calibration of the HPGe detector was carried out using Monte Carlo simulation technique and results are compared with those obtained by experiment using standard radionuclides of 152Eu and 133Ba. The coincidence summing correction factors for the measurement of these nuclides were also calculated
