Calibration of a PWR steam separator as a two-phase flow meter
Description
Only limited experimental data are available to verify thermal and hydraulic computer codes used in designing PWR steam generators. A study was undertaken to examine the feasibility of utilizing an Instrumented Combustion Engineering (C-E) steam separator as a two-phase flow meter to measure the steam and water flow distribution in an operating steam generator. The separators were instrumented and laboratory tested under prototypical steam generator conditions. The test data verify that the separator can be utilized as two-phase flow meters. The accuracy of flow predictions was 12% for the water flow and 9% for the steam flow measurement
