Achievements with the ASDEX neutral beam system during operation

  • 1. Max-Planck-Institut fuer Plasmaphysik, Garching (Germany, F.R.)

Description

During operation of the ASDEX neutral injection numerous improvements, in particular feedback regulations of the ion sources and arc notch circuits, were implemented. The design and performance of these devices are described in some detail. The various developments of the neutral injection system yielded a considerable increase in performance: Injected power: 2.5 MW → 4.3 MW, pulse length: 0.2 s → 0.5 s, availability: 60 % → 100 %.
