The solubility of tritium in yttrium at temperatures from 250 to 400 0C
Description
The solubility of tritium in yttrium was measured at temperatures from 250 to 4000C and at low pressures (atomic fractions of tritium in yttrium below 0.001). In this region the solubility followed the Sieverts' relationship and the Sieverts' constant was Ksub(Y-T) (ppm Torrsup(-1/2)) = 0.55 exp (22 900/RT). The results agree with extrapolations of previous data and indicate that sorption of tritium by yttrium is a promising technique for recovering tritium from the molten lithium blankets proposed for fusion reactors.
