Description
A ground state depleted (GSD) laser has been demonstrated at 912 nm in the form of a Q-switched oscillator operating on the Nd3+4F3/2-4I9/2 transition in Y2SiO5. Samarium scandium gallium garnet has been demonstrated effective at selectively suppressing the competing and much stronger 4F3/2-4I11/2 lasing transition. Efficient harmonic generation has been demonstrated using non-critically phase matched KNbO3
