Oxidative damage in PC12 cells induced by multiple X-ray exposures

Description
Objective: To explore the oxidative damage in PCl2 cells induced by intermittent X-ray exposures. Method: PC12 cells were irradiated with 50, 150, 450, 1350 mGy of X -rays, respectively. The viability of PC12 cells, activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD), and level of Malondialdehyde (MDA) were evaluated after irradiation. Result: Compared with the control group, the viability of PC12 cells were above 100% at 50, 150, 450 mGy of X-ray exposure, while under 100% at 1350 mGy. With the increase frequency of the irradiation, the viability were decreased, showing well correlation between the viability and the accumulation of irradiation. Followed the increase frequency of the irradiation, the activity of SOD was decreased; while the levels of MDA were increased at the irradiation dose of 150, 450 mGy, respectively. Conclusion: Multiple middle-low dose irradiations could induce oxidative damage in PC12 cells, and the level of damage is associated with the dose of irradiation. (authors)
