Analysis on elastic instability of fluid in U-shape tube bundle

Description

Based on the vibration equation of an U-shape tube, the flow induced vibration equation of an U-shape tube bundle is extracted. This paper presents the method and an example for calculating flow's critical velocity which should cause elastic instability of fluid in an U-shape tube bundle. It is shown that the critical velocity generally agrees with that of a direct tube bundle as the frequency of the direct tube bundle is equal to the average value of one-class frequencies of the tubes in the U-shape tube bundle
