Donald Ehreth of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Dr. Jan Stolwijk of the Yale Medical School were the principal witnesses at a hearing on a proposed research program that would assess and develop ways to reduce the health risks of radon contamination. DOE and EPA are the two principal federal agencies involved in the program. Ehreth reviewed past successes in developing information about radon as a result of an open access policy to include as many scientists as possible in the effort. Syolwijk summarized medical findings related to concentrations of radon in indoor spaces. Supporting testimony for both presentations came from associates involved in the program.
